The full moon, in eclipse

Seattle's skies are cloudy, but was nevertheless able to watch the eclipse of the moon just now. Through binoculars, it was like looking at a sphere illumined by a brilliant light shining on it at an angle, with the area directly illuminated shrinking bit by bit. Not at all, really, like seeing the new moon. Toward the end, the sphere was both beautiful and eerie.

What a marvelous place the universe is.

  1. That you could see it in cloudy Seattle and I couldn't in drought-stricken Austin is a sign of just how unfair life really is!
